Meeting Summary

Capturing latent requirements, and discussing trade-offs for Allium v4.

Brilliant to be joined by @tburny, who shared recent wins with Allium, including distilling a spec from a long-neglected CLI project that surfaced more than 25 bugs. He also shared his ubiquitous-language work at ubiquitouslanguage.org, a SKOS-based glossary for catching semantic debt and defend against AI inventing and amplifying its own terms.

Henry shared some as-yet unpublished analysis comparing AI-mediated requirements-capture skills. Key takeaway: Allium captures more latent requirements than the alternatives tested. There’s no free lunch though, and the trade-off is that it asks more questions, so it demands more of the human operator.

Most of the hour went to discussing in-progress work on Allium v4, and it raised some interesting questions. I’ll start a separate thread to gather feedback on them.

If you’d like to attend any future meetings, (currently Wednesdays, 3-4pm BST) please register your interest here. There’s no obligation to turn up once registered, it just lets us know who to include on administrative notifications. The session lasts for an hour, but you’re welcome to drop in and out any time.

In the future we may host in-person London meet-ups as well, do let us know if you have any interest in attending one.
